When I found YVR on my roster, I was delighted even though Vancouver flights are known to be tough. Since the Hong Kong government imposed stricter Covid rules on aircrew last year, I could only fly to China and my last long-haul journey was eight months ago. With the social-distancing restrictions in other countries being lifted, my city has also loosened up a little bit by shortening the quarantine period to three days. Our company has then started to allocate more flights to us who are not in the daunting closed-loop system, which involves a month of non-stop flying and quarantine.

This video captures briefly what I did before getting on the aircraft and how I spent the 34-hour stay in the hotel in Vancouver.
