Two-Day Hotel Quarantine in NYC (Video)

Despite only having a few Covid cases in the community, Hong Kong is arguably one of the strictest cities in the world for quarantine. Vaccinated or not, people arriving in HK from other countries would have to quarantine 14 or 21 days in a designated hotel. Previously, we, aircrew, were exempted from the two-week confinement if we locked ourselves in the hotel room during our layover in outports and there were no passengers on the returning flight. The condition was not ideal, but at least we could get out of HK and earn some allowance. Sadly, this “privilege” has recently been abolished after a few of us were tested positive for omicron. Since then, a slew of flights has been canceled. But just right before the annoying new restriction was imposed, I operated a flight to New York and enjoyed some alone time during the two-day layover.
